七旬老者诈骗千万澳元

金融犯罪调查组的侦探们已经起诉了一名71岁的男子，这是正在进行的对涉嫌投资欺诈所作的调查报告的一部分。
 

 
调查于2021年6月开始，几个人向警方报告了对他们的投资的担忧——报告相关的所有投资都由同一个人管理。

Financial Crimes Squad detectives have charged a 71-year-old man as part of an ongoing investigation into reports of alleged investment fraud.
 
The investigation commenced in June 2021, with several people reporting concerns to police regarding their investments – investments all managed by the same person.
 
It will be alleged the 71-year-old man, worked as an accountant and financial advisor and gained the confidence and trust of his clients. It is alleged he deliberately abused his client’s trust by offering investments into non-existent schemes over an extended period of time.
 
It is further alleged that once in receipt of the funds he used the money contrary to the stated investment purpose and expended it on living expenses, meeting the costs of his personal business ventures, and to provide some victims with money in order to provide a false impression of legitimate returns on ‘invested money’.
 
Yesterday, Thursday 9 September 2021, detectives from the Financial Crimes Squad arrested and charged the 71-year-old man with 47 counts of Stealing by Direction. He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today, Friday 10 September 2021.
 
The 47 charges each relate to an individual victim, with monies invested by each ranging between $5,000 and $3,948,479. The total value of the alleged 47 charges is $18,935,958.89.
