Hello my name is Bernie Durkin.I’m the state chair of neighbourhood watch in WA,and also the national chair of Neighbourhood Watch Australasia.

Those of you who are thinking about becoming involved in Neighbourhood Watch I welcome you.
那些想要加入邻里守望组织的人，我欢迎你们。
 
In WA we moved away from what we call “the traditional volunteers”,
and have taken on what we call “the participation role”.

The whole idea is to get people participating in neighbourhood watch
and the philosophies and beliefs of Neighbourhood Watch.

You don’t have to join an existing group.
你不必加入一个现有的邻里守望团体。
 
If you want to join a new group or a smaller group that is operating in your suburb that’s fine.

But the important thing with Neighbourhood Watch is you adopt the philosophies.
但邻里守望组织最重要的是你需要接受这些理念。
 
What I mean by that is Neighbourhood Watch is about looking after each other in the community
我的意思是，邻里守望组织是居民在社区中互相照顾。
 
If you hear or see something that you think is not right,tell your neighbour about it or even better go online and report it.
如果你听到或看到你认为不对的事，把这件事告诉你的邻居，或更好的话就去网上报告此事。
 
It can be reported to police normally via Crime Stoppers that is the best way,But I encourage you to get involved and make our community safer.
通常情况下可以通过Crime Stoppers 向警方报告，这是最好的方法。
但是我鼓励你们参与进来让我们的社区更加安全。
